Shipowner caution on indexed time charters
DRY BULK shipowners have expressed caution over the growing practice of using Baltic Exchange index-related time charter agreements, saying they can make more money trading vessels on the spot market.
Companies with large, young fleets would be unwise to enter into such a charter agreement, which see daily earnings tracked against average spot freight rates, a panel of publicly-listed dry bulk company chiefs said during Posidonia in Athens.
