Energy use in OEDC falls 5% in 2009
GLOBAL energy consumption fell last year by 1.1% – the first annual decline since 1982 – due to the global economic recession, according to statistics from the latest BP Statistical Review of World Energy.
However, the report expects positive figures this year as economic recovery generates higher energy demand.
The contraction in energy use was mainly focused in developed economies and the former Soviet Union.
