Tauranga faces opposition to dredging plan
Eighty submissions have opposed Port of Tauranga's proposal to dredge the existing shipping channels in the city's harbour to accommodate the next generation of ships.
The New Zealand port is seeking local council permission to deepen the shipping channels by up to 3.3 metres, which would see 15m cubic metres of sediment removed from Tauranga Harbour.
