Boxship oversupply may end in 2011 – consultant
SURPLUS containership capacity could be eradicated within 15 months, earlier than many had anticipated when owners and operators first started to put ships into lay-up at the start of the industry collapse.
In a presentation to the Trans-Pacific Maritime Conference in Long Beach earlier this month, Alphaliner consultant Tan Hua Joo said the best-case scenario now indicated a supply and demand balance by mid-2011.
