ICS to launch attack on US ransoms order
THE INTERNATIONAL Chamber of Shipping (ICS) is to hit out publicly at president Barack Obama’s executive order on Somalia, arguing that it leaves the industry uncertain where it stands when paying ransoms for kidnapped vessels.
The order, signed into US law last month, prohibits transactions by US persons, including corporate entities, with selected specially designated nationals of Somalia.
Two of the named nationals are widely considered to be pirates.
Confusion has reigned over the edict...
