Concern over rush to bring back lay-ups
A NEW report warns that redeployment of idle container tonnage threatens industry recovery, potentially seeing a “more pronounced seasonal downturn” at the end of this year.
The latest Macro report by container lessor Sea-Axis says that slowsteaming, scrapping, delays in deliveries, cancellations of new orders and lay-up of container vessel capacity acted as the principal buffer to the fall in box volumes.
