Ships ignore anti-piracy measures
SOME commercial vessels are still failing to adopt effective counter-piracy measures in the vulnerable areas in the Gulf of Aden and off Somalia, according to Nato.
Despite clear evidence that ships that take precautionary measures, including reporting their movements and implementing best-management practices, are much less likely to fall victim to successful pirate attacks and hijacks, a significant number are not following these recommendations.
