Drydocking rules change
GERMANISCHER Lloyd is to offer shipowners the opportunity to extend periods between drydockings under a new scheme that could cut operating costs significantly over the lifetime of a ship.
Although other classification societies, including Lloyd’s Register and ABS, have been conducting pilot schemes, GL said it is the first to complete trials and incorporate the new survey schedules into its rules.
