Brussels orders cruise safety review
EU transport commissioner Siim Kallas has ordered an expanded review of European Union passenger ship safety legislation following the Costa Concordia grounding off the Italian coast.
The review, which builds on an existing study of EU legislation that has been underway since 2010,will focus on design and stability of passenger ships, technological developments in the sector, crew training and safe operation, including emergency evacuation.
