Baltic Dry Index hits 26-year low
The Baltic Dry Index has fallen to a 26-year low of 662 points, one point below the trough reached in late 2008 following the financial crash, as charter rates for bulk carriers have come tumbling down following a fourth quarter surge and compounded by Chinese new year holidays slowing activity.
Commissioner Mario Cordero told the World LNG Fuels Conference in Texas that “while many people remain frustrated by the slow progress of alternative fuel application, I suggest we remain optimistic with the present scope of the environmental agenda”.
