Owners frozen out of China’s 60-vessel LNG carrier push
As many as 60 liquefied natural gas carriers could be ordered at China’s yards over the next three years, as the country boosts its LNG imports and continues its policy of using its own ships to import commodities.
The forecast additional 60 vessels in the order book by 2015 to meet Chinese demand, is based on the country’s plan to increase its import terminal capacity and boost the percentage of imports carried on its own ships.
