DryShips considers ditching some of its bulk tonnage

Greece-based DryShips is considering whether to shed some of its existing bulk carriers or to axe its new-building commitments to reduce its exposure to a dry bulk sector that is draining the company’s cash.

The George Economou-led company flagged up the likely strategy as it adjusts to a new, tougher financing environment for shipping and continues to expand its position in the ultra-deepwater drilling industry.
