BHP slows work on outer harbour expansion

BHP Billiton has shifted its focus to maximising its potential capacity from its inner harbour tenure at Burgess Point in Port Hedland, slowing work on its outer harbour expansion.

Following the West Australian transport minister Troy Buswell’s announcement that inner harbour capacity was under-utilised, BHP released a statement saying: “the outer harbour remains a critical part of our future growth plans, but is not our best option right now.”
