Private expenditure on new capital works has increased 23.7% compared with the June quarter last year, according to new data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The mining industry had a big role to play in increasing expenditure after quarterly expenditure in this sector increased 75% from the previous corresponding period.
