Hapag-Lloyd co-owner urges unlikely Hamburg Süd merger

Klause Michael Kühne, co-owner of Hapag-Lloyd, is calling for a merger with fellow German line Hamburg Süd.
“Only a merger can bring [Hapag-Lloyd] into the lead group again around Danish Maersk and Swiss [Mediterranean Shipping Co],” Mr Khne said. “Hamburg Sd would be an ideal partner for Hapag-Lloyd.”
