Container bookings slow as fixture periods shrink
The box market seems to be taking a rest of an uncertain duration, with brokers recording just 27 closures within the past week, about a third of the average fixtures in March or April.
“The average period of the fixtures is also much shorter now,” a broker observed. “Fresh requirements are just too low to give any real impetus.”
The larger segment above 4000 teu was the only one to see noticeable movement, brokers noted.
