Mediterranean Shipping Company has opted to maintain its New Zealand head office in the earthquake-devastated city of Christchurch, signing a 12-year, NZ$20m lease for new premises.

Christchurch is near the port of Lyttelton, the major container port for the south island of NZ and one which moved 336,182 teu equivalent during 2011/12.
