Rio Tinto Pilbara hits Q3 iron ore record

Rio Tinto’s Pilbara operations achieved a record for iron ore tonnage in the third quarter, producing 50.2m tonnes.
The result was 6% higher than the previous corresponding period where Pilbara operations produced 47.4mt.
This was an 8% increase on the second quarter of 2012 where operations produced 46.7mt.
Yearly production for the nine months to September totalled 140.9mt.
