PORT METEOROLOGICAL AGENT

Contract for Services to support the Australian Voluntary Observing Fleet.

The Bureau of Meteorology in New South Wales, invites persons with relevant experience to apply for the contract to service and support the Australian Voluntary Observing Fleet. This includes the ports of Sydney, Port Kembla, Botany, Kurnell and Newcastle for a period of twenty-four months.

The scope of the services of this contract includes:

• Ensuring the quality of the marine weather observations

• Maintaining, checking and calibrating meteorological instruments

• Ensuring accuracy, completeness and regularity of observations

and coded weather reports

• Recruitment and decommissioning of weather observing vessels

• Ad-hoc visits to weather observing vessels from other nations

• The provision of training in meteorological observing techniques

and practices to ship personnel as necessary.
