SPIRIT OF TASMANIA – DIRECTOR, MARINE OPERATIONS

TT-Line Company Pty Ltd operates Spirit of Tasmania I and II between Devonport, Tasmania and Melbourne, Victoria, providing passenger and freight services.

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified applicant to join the Company's senior executive team as Director, Marine Operations.

This is a key Senior Management role providing leadership and advice in regard to the Safety and Technical Services pertaining to TT-Line vessels. As the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) the incumbent reports directly to the TT-Line Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer for all matters of ship safety and operations.

The Director, Marine Operations is responsible for ensuring the safety of all staff and passengers by way of providing appropriate management of issues relating to, and the implementation of policies and procedures to maintain high safety standards across all operational functions of the vessels.

Candidates must have a Masters Class 1, with at least 5 years experience at sea as a Master. Senior management experience in a marine related industry would be desirable. This position will be working closely with AMSA, DOTARS and ABS so it is essential the applicant have an excellent working knowledge of marine and marine security legislation and codes. This position requires proven leadership, organisational and communication skills and a commitment to customer service. A recognized and relevant qualification will be well received.
