Recently in the Lloyd's List DCN it was asked: What happened to P&O?
I believe that the rot set in many years ago when the whole was broken up into several sections with the intention of making the whole more profitable.
Several sections were then sold off as they were not “core business”.
This, I believe, made the remainder more attractive to overseas conglomerates and more vulnerable to being bought to the point where the once mighty P&O has virtually disappeared in all but name.
Toll Holdings should be very careful about how they divide up their assets as the same fate could await them!
